Okay it isn't Wednesday yet but I want everyone to know it's Modroom's birthday today! OH, these are bits of a variety of Banksias ...

Banksia is a genus of about 75 species in the Proteaceae family. All species occur in Australia with one (B.dentata) extending to islands to Australia's north.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MODROOM!

What a strange planet Australia is. The top picture looks like a mouse on a stick with barnacles on it.

YES it is Modroom! Pleasure :)

The top picture is what we Aussies call an "Old Man", BoiledEgginADeckchair. Just like Modroom on his birthday HAHHHAAAA. Oh yes, I can see the barnacled mouse on a stick, how uncomfortable! What a strange planet you must come from :)

The Banksia Serrata is my favourite too Lavender! It's in photographs one, three, eight and nine - a bit out of order here :)

Happy Birthday to Modroom.

Eeeeek! I thought the first photo was that of a mouse!!!

I love the seventh image. It looks like a cactus.

Very interesting and cool.

Modroom isn't here anymore Ces! You can come down from your chair now heehee. There is nothing 'succulent' about these trees Ces, however at certain times of the year the flowers are literally dripping with nectar. They were soaked in water by aboriginals to produce a sweet, high-energy drink!

Banksias must seem almost alien to those alien to Australia Mary Stebbins Taitt :)

5 and 6 are some of your best. Number one looks like a dead bat. These are all so phallic. No wonder it is called the land down under.

Oh yes, 5 & 6 were getting a little artistic, Perriette HAHA. I'm trying to stay away from arty farty so you can see what the plants actually look like ;) Seems like a good idea too if you are starting to see things! Hhehhheeee.

Perhaps I am seeing things due to lack of sleep and sneezing my brains out. I'M DYING!!! Achoo!

Oh dear Perriette, I see your head hasn't exploded yet ... try sleeping your head off :)
