Earth Hour 08

There are usually many lights outside the kitchen window.

They still look like monsters in the dark!

8PM Earth Hour

Earth Hour
Earth Hour is a celebration of our awakening to the challenges of climate changed. NASA took the above photograph last year.

I was brought up switching lights off when not in the room and even turning the water off between wetting toothbrush then rinsing mouth. Today, we have computers, mobile phone chargers, microwaves, MP3 players etc. to remember about!

Since Earth Hour last year, our family has switched to using compact fluorescent light bulbs and installed water saving devices in our home. Switching everything off for an hour at 8PM tonight is a good opportunity to remind us to always respect Earth.

It will also remind us last year a couple of days afterwards, we were expecting a tidal wave to flood the beaches of Sydney with only an hour's notice. Seriously! They had helicopters at my children's school ready to fly them to safety. I would have drowned!

Earth Hour has now gone global with 24 cities across the world signed up for today's event with more changing of people's thinking to generate long-term behavioural changes. We need to respect and work with Climate Changed because Earth's climate has changed since her beginning.
