Woken by toes at two in the morning?






Pulling the fireplace apart for the Ringtail's escape out of our bedroom. We left a trail of apple out the window, then he was gone! Until next time ...

Mammals

Together with the platypus, echidnas are the world's only monotremes, or egg-laying mammals. This Short-beaked Echidna mosyed across a walking track.


Ringtail Possums make what is called a drey. A drey is a circular nest made out of bark, leaves and twigs.






He was impossible to photograph any closer, due to thickness of bushland. Besides, would you want to be disturbed whilst sleeping?

Dragons and Shingle-back

Eastern Water Dragons are semi-aquatic lizards that are found along the east coast of Australia.


Shingle-back lizards are found in the southern half of Australia, except for eastern and south-eastern coastal areas.




The Frilled Neck Lizard is an Australian icon.


The Komodo Dragon can be found on the Indonesian Islands of Komodo, Rintja, Padar, Flores, Gili, Mota and Owadi Sami.

The bottom five images were taken by my son in a Zoo. The top three photos were out the back near water.

Blue Tongue

A couple of Blue Tongue Lizards that were found in the kitchen.
