I have always hated succulents int he garden but as they are so water-wise it wasn't "politically correct" to express myself. Seeing these photos I have changed my mind and have been converted to the possibility that the *can* look good.

Glad I didn't say anything while I was being ignorant ...

Whoops, just did :-) Never hurts to admit when you are wrong :-)

Lee! Hellcat would love these plants };-}

HAHA, you don't have to be 'politically correct' around here Mountaingirl, but I'm very pleased you have been converted about cacti which might be all we can grow in twenty years time! :)

Mary Stebbins Taitt, I also love the graphic quality they have in regards to striking obvious uniform conformity to basic shape Heehee.

They ARE Albina! Oooops, you almost fainted onto the top one ;)

Fabulous spiky plants - I love the patterns they make with all those spikes but I'm glad I don't have to weed them...

Today I bought some Agave syrup for the first time - seems to be a sort of sugary stuff that comes from a mexican succulent.

Do you have any edible cacti or succulents?

These are lovely. I always loved the Sonora desert. My mother grew cacti, just like these.

You're right Caroline, weeding would be more necessary because easier to see! We eat Aloe Vera in food and drink form ... fungi seems to have been more traditionally popular because virtually all cacti originate in the Americas :)

We had a small rock garden for cacti at home too Ces, I remember Dad building it and me being in the wheelbarrow :)

Aloe Vera is great for burns - that's what we use it for anyway.

I didn't mean to give you burns I meant well... I'm sure you know what I meant...
