aawww...I love Koalas, but I have never seen one in real life. I still have a stuffed koala bear doll from when I was 4years old, and refuse to get rid of it! Beautiful pictures!
Oh gee, I missed so much. I just scrolled through the previous posts but I must return to inspect the details. I cannot believe how good these buildings stad today especially after being repainted. Were those crematoria I saw below?
This page won't be moving for a while Ces whilst I snap out of holiday mode at the BirdAnonymous Blog :) Those DO look like crematoria but literature says otherwise ... I'll have to investigate more because believe what you do ... ;) Zzzzzzzz....
I'm going to investigate what they are further by the end of today ElizT! Objects AND people were sterilized HERE... but the place below was fuelled by wood and not steam or chemicals …
OKAY! I’ll paste this answer under the correct post also … The OPEN KITCHEN was built adjacent Asiatic dormitories c1900. Extremely basic brick building open at either end with a chumney in the center. Rice boilers were included in 1925. It was a rare example of a kitchen specifically designed for Asiatics. However … the building was converted to use as incinerators around 1950 – infilling all but one fireplace! That explains the ‘Warren’ incinerators!!

You know they may be incinerators for contaminated items if this was a hospital?
Excellent thought Ces! I'm sure there would have been plenty of bedsheets to burn ... but right next to the Asiatic cooking pot and eating area!?!
They look a little bit like the old autoclave sterilisers.
