They were very noisy zombies Captain Modroom9, who threw wax around the place! Would you believe we put up with it until sunrise? No computers, television or music had an adverse effect ;)
"L'heure de la terre est née en mars 2007 à Sydney, en Australie, quand environ 2,2 millions d'habitants ont répondu à l'appel et éteint les lumièrs non essentielles autour d'eux..." Etc. BRAVO Sydney!!!
Hello Aunty Rita, thankyou - it was dark too! This year an average of 58% of people living in cities said they had taken part and according to estimates energy saved slashed almost 30 tonnes of carbon emissions — equal to taking 61,320 cars off the road for the hour :) Bravo Sydney! Hhehheeee
It was fun TsDuff - thanks! Our youngest wanted to do the same the following night for dinner - until we mentioned the only difference was the television and fish tank. We are pretty good with daily saving energy apart from those two things. ALL the years I have complained about that television and sworn one day it will have its cord cut! Then they remind me about my computer and threathen to cut its cord HAHA.
That's still 17 more homes than last year who turned off, Mary Stebbins Taitt! Many more will have heard of it for next year, and have thought about their own energy usage already :)
ANY lightbulb will be dangerous to your skin or eyes if you break them KJ! Will try to remember to remind you next year but I DID have the movie and link on the right hand side of this blog for a month beforehand *whistle* *swinging off the rafters ...*
Anony in my experience giving a naked flame to teenage boys is their idea of heaven. Combine with pool chemicals, styrofoam and a little vinegar and you have an explosive mix!
Glad you all participated, keep up the good work. I'm an old tree-hugger from way back. I would dearly like to get more Americans and Europeans involved. Given the size of our population, we are very keen on this and perpetuating the lessons it teaches. Ahh . .but I feel a rant on abject consumerism coming on! Pfft:)
Thanks to Physics in highschool, my two students are up to rocket science experiments Baino! Hhehhee - really, one is attending a National University Physics Workshop next week! HAHA. There WILL be more American and Europeans participating next year. Knew you were an old treehugger, ranting about consumerism is normal for one! Hhehheee
Sounds like you had a wonderful time! Yep, new piros are born every day... I have turned light for you, just in case you need to go and find more matches, he-he...
Heehee, I'm still daily posting photographs at Bird Anonymous but won't be posting here for about a month. Thanks for visiting again Mary Stebbins Taitt :)

It WAS dark!
*giggle*
It must have been an horrendous hour that you endured with such creatures of the dark. Are they zombies?

You must put zombies in the cupboard.
Have thought quite often about doing that but the cupboards don't have locks, Captain Modroom9.

i missed the whole thing. i was irresponsible for reasons unknown.
we have energy efficient lightbulbs too, but i recently read that they can be quite dangerous to your skin and eyes if they break. be careful.

You DON'T need to set a fire just for light Albina! *running to save fireworks from setting off in the cupboard*
Cool shots! How fun!

I'm revisiting and re-enoying these night shots. :-D

That first picture is really cool, but also it looks like the beginning of what might be a scary movie.
It can be scary if you don't know where you are in the dark!
