Used no longer, coal storage and loading docks built around 1840. The chimneys were from producing zinc, lead, sulphuric acid, superphosphate and fertizers.
Thanks G3TFilms, but the photos will be better once back on a sunny day! HAHHAHA YES, I can see that! The explosions, I mean :) Those chimneys could also serve as part of some type of atomic laboratory ... hmmmm... Bootmen is a favourite movie of mine filmed on the warves at Newscastle. No explosions though...
Well, not of the dangerous type. Maybe an explosion of stage shows using tap in industrial settings... Bloody tap dogs! ;)
Bootmen was a cute little film. I didn't get much of a chance to chat to Dein Perry because we had the Phantom Menace moving out and Mission Impossible II moving in to film at Fox at the same time. It kind of took all of our attention.
Which is a shame. It's always fun to chat to Aussie Directors about their experiences.
HAHA, I've never seen 'Tap Dogs' or 'Steel City' live, but know others have tried to ruin the charm of our 80s movie. 'Little' films can be the best! I guess you have to have loved stage and dancing to have fully appreciated it ;)

They're great photos. The structures would make great backdrops for films.
I'm sure the locals would kill me but can't you just see the coal loader being blown to smithereens in a series of explosions?

The docks are really cool looking, Also that last one looking "through". :-D Well, all of them. :-D
And the one with buildings on it . . . cool!
Yes, it was all very cool, Mary Stebbins Taitt. Around 10 degrees Celsius Heehee :)
In the final one, you could have been looking through the legs of an elephant.
I could have been ElizT, but wasn't. Besides, it wouldn't be wise photographing from under an elephant like that!
HEY! ElizT stole my line!!!! MEOOOWWW!
Anyway.... More a mammmoth... You used your time machine? :)
Pier structures are great! Sorry about your soggy holiday -- but from the look of your photos you have found inspiration in the rain!!!
No I didn't use a time machine and that isn't a mammoth, Mademoiselle Princesse. Sigh.
Hhehhhee, okay I admit there was still inspiration Albina ... to go back when it's sunny! HHAHAHHAA
great structures, especially the first five!!
Heehee, agree the first five are the best Vfm4 :)
