Alloxylon makes up a small group of terminal often red-flowering showy plants scattered around the southern edges of the Pacific Rim. Part of an ancient group known as Embothriinae with roots in the mid Cretaceous, when Australia, Antarctica and South America were linked by land.
What happened next?
Harry Blown, Australia went Down Under :)
I love the names of these trees. They have lovely flowers.
Ces, the Waratah is the Floral Emblem of New South Wales but the 'Waratah' word, is the Aboriginal name for the official Waratah species. This is a very different plant but still beautiful :)
Aaawwwwwh, you get all the prettys!
Those 'prertty' flowers are almost each as big as my head Albina :)
In WA we had our own version fo the Christmas Tree - it was really really golden in color and certainly not as pretty as this one. Must go and google and find out soem more ....
