Proteas are south African and from the Proteaceae family, like Waratahs, Banksias, Hakeas and Grevilleas which are the Australian branch. Easy to grow, so great for many Australian gardens.

I love the second last one ..the pink looks like its melting from the green..like an icecream (laugh does that make sense)

I love proteas, I have one garden of 'builders rubble' and its the one plant that grows beautifully in it..

Hhehe, that does make sense Abbey :) A lot of people think Proteas are natives because they do grow anywhere and there are many about! They also look 'Australian' if that makes sense HAHA.

There is an Alien look to them outside of Australia and South Africa Modroom :) They are in fact ancient plants!
