Inside

The most colour inside - flags.

In 1796, the Governor of NSW left a sobering warning for their colony by displaying executed murderer, Francis Morgan, hung on a gibbet from the highest point on the island. The gun battery was built some time later but evidence of the convict labour used can still be seen.

Looks cold and damp? It was!

Many fireplaces were scattered about. Wish they were lit!

We have our fire at home lit now. Even with sky blue, the wind is ....COLD!

It's been blowing here but grey sky and not cold (UK weather report). Those rolled up flags look great and lots of small details to see, and you can't beat a good sturdy 10-tonne fireplace. Was'nt there anything left of Francis Morgan to take a photo of?

What does VR mean? Does it mean Victoria Regina?.I love the furnace. I wish you lived next door to me.

HAHA! The flags were the ONLY colour around apart from wet umbrellas, CaptainModroom9! Francis Morgan has long been scattered at sea, not in the usual dusty way either ;)

Ces, I think VR MUST represent Queen Victoria! You saw her crown! Those furnaces aren't mine and it would be very breezy living next door to where these ones stand. Plus wet! :)

I forgot to say something about the flags. Great photograph - very interesting and artistic.

Thankyou Ces, I took that photograph without a flash for realism reasons :)

Thankyou Yrsa! Welcome, I've been enjoying your blog :)

The fire places are pretty old and clunky Raj - I'd imagine there wouldn't be many like that around any more! I was crouching closer and closer to imaginary flames ;)

The temperature in the Mountains during winter is the only reason why I don't live there Simon! Hheheee, very cool Simon - almost scary!
