Baldie is missing and we found a drop bear in the backyard yesterday! Drop bears prefer to feed at night. They wait in trees and then drop down on top of their prey, usually instantly knocking it unconscious. Jack spent the night screaming which was unusual. We should have looked outside! Lets hope Baldie turns up for her breakfast tomorrow…

No dropbears in sight today. That one looks fat!
Oh no.
And I don't like the look on it's face.
They are related to koalas Modroom, though larger and equipped with sharp teeth and razor-like claws. Sometimes people refer to them as the koala's evil twin!
Oh-oh...they also run fast!!! Get him off your tree before he kills it!!! Make him into a fetching hat -- and by all means pull the feather from Jack for that special hat touch!!! Jack was screaming in a premonition that’s all.
Jack was screaming at the same time Baldie could have gone missing Lily White seeing REDRUM (you really shouldn't swoon in bottles)! I'm staying away from the gum trees for a while to be sure the drop bear has gone. They can attack creatures larger than themselves, including humans.
OMG! Now I feel sooooo sad! :(((( I hate that evil twin!
The only known way to deter a drop bear is to spread toothpaste or vegemite behind your ears and on your neck. A good way to find out if a drop bear is in a tree is to lie down beneath the tree and spit upwards. If a drop bear is sleeping up there, it will wake up and spit back. But have have other things to run away from now like a TSUNAMI! Bye bye MerlinPrincesse ...
Noooooooooo! D'you live near the ocean??? Magnitude 8 is a hell of an heardquake! Run Anon! RUN!!!!!
I meant earthquake..... blah!
Hearthcake?
MerlinPrincesse, the beaches are closed, ferry service halted, schools evacuated but I am still here - yes on the beach. They are saying the warning is until late afternoon. Might put on a life jacket :) The drop bear doesn't have one heehee ...
Everything is OK now ... the warning has been cancelled as you can read from the link. Makes you realise that if there really was a tsunami ... none of us would be here now.
She just ran off with Prince Charming. Don't worry.
My poor baby isn't old enough yet Perriette! Will she ever be ... dirty old Prince. Maybe she evacuated early to escape from the tsunami ... birds know about things sooner than we do. Why would the drop bear come here though? They much prefer camping grounds where there are small juicy children - without feathers. Although Baldie has been juicy looking ... WHAAAAA!
I am glad everybody's safe... But I'm still worried about the poor Baldie... :(
Bladie might have even been chopped by helicopters! Manboy's school was surrounded by them waiting to fly the kids out (safe from tsunami), there were choppers in the sky and sirens all over the place. This could explain what the drop bear was doing at our house in the first place. Sydney was CHAOS today!
The Drop bear looks hungry, maybe he didn't get little Baldie afterall. Hope she's OK, and you to of course.
I wonder what it ate after the photo was taken ... after it dropped Hardwax!?! It didn't eat me and we can go back amongst the gum trees now although haven't tried spitting yet.
Don't spit.... It's not a good idea....
But it's a true blue Aussie custom MerlinPrincesse!?! Maybe not blue unless you eat blueberries first :)
I find you blue enough...Hhehhe! :)
Pfffft rubbish! You know the sun even shines out of my moon MerlinPrincesse :)
I will spit up your leg.
I will have to be there then BoiledEggInADeckchair to spit back!
Mwhahhahahaah! *blah*
This is NO time to be laughing MerlinPrincesse!
This was your April Fool's joke. It is a Koala. Toothpaste behind your ear......sheesh. hahhahahaaa
You may have noticed I divulged the vegemite and toothpaste information on the second of April Perriette! Australians are known for going to great lengths to make sure that backpacking tourists are aware of the dangers posed by drop bears, plus young children attending camp are frequently warned of this threat to their safety };-}
Evil Twin, huh! Cool-looking though. Eeep.
HAHHAAA, had everyone going for a while last year Mary Stebbins Taitt, but the tsunami threat was real and scary... ;)
