Meet Jack. Jack arrived a week ago and should be flying in Northern Australia from the Kimberly across the Gulf of Carpentaria. He was found playing in someone's bathroom in Sydney - a long way from home.
He is a mutation from the likes of Mr and Mrs Rainbow Lorikeet shown in the photos below - a red-collared lorikeet. We don't like cages surrounding birds and have been unable to find his owner. However, he will not survive in the wild of this foreign part of the continent if we set him free. Correction, he will survive but will keep ending up in people's houses wanting a cuddle. Thus, a never-ending circle from foster care to freedom. Combined, life can be forever more traumatic.
Jack has now moved from foster care into adoption by the Anony Family. Tomorrow Jack will be wormed and sprayed for bird lice, then sexed (he might be Jackie) and have his wings clipped.Say "Gidday" to Jack ... he's upside down from Australia.

He's also extremely bossy and always has something to say!
He wants a file to escape from behind bars and hang from trees like a bat. Would make a good acrobat!
Modroom, I wanted to name him Batty. If he isn't yet he soon will be ...
Batty ie a cutie! Another kid in custody? :)
Who's batty MerlinPrincesse? Jack is under our protection but it isn't as bad as for most kids.
Ah, speak for yourself, anon, about the kids... My childrens are perfect; they fetched fancy prices on eBay... You are kinder than I am about Jack, he would already be a fancy feast, whiskers licking god variety. Just imagine -- lovely feathers everywhere!!!
SHHHHHH Lily White! Now Jack is feeling comfortable we have discovered he can talk! Another few days and we might discover he can also read!!
...maybe he can SING?! Opera????
I will keep my paws crossed in trepidation of hope...
He does whistle a tune which we thought was the next door neighbour being happy for a while. He also mutters like a grumpy old man, so if he sings Opera it would be a broad range from soprano to bass-baritone Lily White.
How big is he? He looks huge. Put your hand next to him so we can compare.
I have very tiny hands Perriette, so that won't help! He is much bigger - more than twice the size. Stretched for a neck rub he is 32cm.
