When about nine, I spent half my life sitting under a paperbark tree. Whole communities of entities lived in the various branches, folds of bark and roots.
I did aboriginal paintings with ground up sandstone and water on the bark Perriette. Think I even entered them in an exhibition once :) They are always shedding and always look like that. A continual shifting environment like the outside world.
Modroom, there were both good and bad fairies, goblins, nature spirits, elves, gnomes, dwarves, and the next door neighbours. Sometimes a monster might have passed through in the form of an inch worm or an army of ants could be terrifying ...
The texture is also amazing Hardwax! I could curl up and fall asleep between some sheets of that paper! They were introduced to Florida and considered as a pest because they don't have any natural enemies about the area. Not like the Queen of Bad Fairies or anyone .... heehee

This is cool looking. Did you ever peel the layers off and make something with them. It looks tempting.
Do they "shed" or always like that?

Who were the entities?
